"How I survived among the Muslims" kan? Tak semestinya berada seorang diri boleh buat kita lupa Allah, kadang-kadang bile kita beramai-ramai pun sama, terutama apabila kita lebih mengutamakan hubungan kemanusiaan daripada hubungan kita dengan Allah. 'Allahualam...

"Kib, did anyone spit at you after sept 11?"
"hmm... no"
"Kib, do you always wear black veil?"
"no, I have colorful veils too!"
"Why do you wear veil differently from Mimi?"
"Because this is how I want to wear it. It's usually how the people in my country wear it. Well, you see it doesnt count how you wear it but the purpose of having it on is what matters. I cover up myself so that people are able to recognize me as a Muslim. You know, when you represent your school for a competition? That's what I'm doing. Representing Islam. But not to win or anything of sort, but to receive respect and accepted. Did you get it?"
"yeah, thanks"

Durra is going back to Malaysia for good this Tuesday... May she have a safe journey! insyaAllah...
selepas selesai semua tanggungjawab td, jahit tudung sambil menonton...
Lama dah tak jumpe... especially kak sue, kak sah and kak tini. Kak aya and kak sue are pregnant! alhamdulillah...
"kembar lagi kak sue?"
"entahla kib... tp kak sue nak anak perempuan pulak... terima jer" ameen...

In the Name of the Lord, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind

HOW I SURVIVED ON MY OWN

Let me start by giving brief information on the city of Gainesville. Alhamdulillah, there are two masajids in our community, namely the Islamic Center of Gainesville (ICG – http://islamiccg.members.atlantic.net) and the Hoda Center Mosque (http://www.hodacenter.com). These two masajids integrate and work hand in hand when it comes to issues pertaining to the community, like moon sighting for Ramadan, preparation of the two ‘Eids, and Islamic schools. Aside from the community, we have two Muslim organizations on campus. At the University of Florida, we have Islam On Campus (IOC – http://www.islamoncampus.com) and Muslim Students Association (MSA – http://grove.ufl.edu/~msa). During my college career, I had served as the secretary of IOC and treasurer of MSA on different terms. I had always helped both organizations the best I can whenever they needed assistance in organizing activities both on and off campus. I should mention that the first four years of college, I had stayed at the ICG. During those years, I had the opportunity to live with Muslims of different background, such as Afghans, Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Turks, and Americans. Having the love for ‘ilm, I had always attended any majlis ‘ilm organized, whether on campus or in the community. Both masajids conduct activities regularly through out the week, which are:

ICG – halaqahs, tea sessions, Arabic lessons, basic Islamic course, and open house
http://islamiccg.members.atlantic.net/events.html).
Hoda Center – halaqahs, tilawah/hifz lessons, Islamic school (for children), and Saturday after fajr sessions.

Of those activities, I regularly attend these events held in the weekends at both locations:

1. Halaqah at the Hoda Center on Friday evenings – the halaqah is broken down in to several sessions. They are tilawah,
tafsir/hadith, presentation (usually a topic regarding fiqh, usulul fiqh, or contemporary issues), and open sessions/dialogues.
2. After Fajr session on Saturdays at the Hoda Center – this kulliyyah kicks off after Fajr, where we would read the quran & the
translation. Then read few ahadiths from Riyadhus-saliheen, or have a tazkirah/khatirah either by Sheikh Safwat (imam) or a
guest speaker. The session ends with solatul dhuha and breakfast.
3. Tea Session at ICG on Saturday evenings – an informal session where someone reads from Ibn Kathir’s Stories of the Prophets.
We discuss and share ideas as we go along, while drinking tea and eating desserts.

The above mentioned activities kept my weekend occupied as well as assisting me in my pursuit of Islamic knowledge and understanding, alhamdulillah. Of course it is not intensive, but it gradually helps, little by little. By the same token, I try to practice good reading habit by doing leisure reading on Islamic issues or Islamic social sciences. I regularly read the American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences (AJISS), published by the IIIT. Also, I try my best to read Maududi’s Tafheemul Quran and Riyadhus-saliheen daily. Suffice to say that I was a pretty active member on campus, and in the community, always willing to lend a helping hand when help is needed.

Alhamdulillah, mingling with Muslims of different background help taught me diversity and the importance of strength (and unity) in both diversity and numbers. It helped me understood the reality of the Muslim ummah at the present time, rather than just dwelling in an idealistic Islamic ideologies overlooking the actual phenomenon. With that being said, I have presented my case and my report as to the Islamic activities that I embrace in my community. God bless…

menarik-menarik... moga sahabat semua boleh ambil yg elok utk dijadikan teladan insyaAllah...

Think about something the other day, but forgot what was it... later insyaAllah...

oh iye.. setelah difikir-fikirkan, persoalan ini timbul : kenapa ada Malaysian Student Association (MSA) & Malaysian Muslim Student Association (MISA) at the same time? tidak bolehkah MISA go under MSA? Apakah objektif kedua-dua persatuan ini berbeza? I guess that is one of the reasons why I want to quit from my position right now... I don't see where it differs, but I do saw where it met! sekarang pun, both organization always buat program bersama sama.

help me... help... somebody, anybody? help me...

from Bintang Popular:
Roll, Camera, Action! Bekerja atas landasan glamor

Sebab itu nama-nama seperti Datuk Rahim Razali, Datuk Jins Shamsudin, Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar, Rosyam Nor, Erra Fazira, Siti Nurhaliza, Abby Abadi (sekadar menyebut beberapa nama) begitu dihargai peminat seni mereka.

Bak kata pepatah, "Kerana nila setitik habis rosak susu sebelanga". Renungkanlah dan selamat berpuasa!

assalamualeikum wbt

The Arabic word for nation, “Ummah”, is employed in the Quran with many different meanings. Ummah can mean a group of people, however small.

Allah says: “And when he arrived at the watering place in Madyan, he found there a group of men (Ummah) watering their flocks.” [Surah al-Qasas: 23]

Allah also says: “Every time a new group (ummah) enters, it curses its sister group.” [Surah al-A’raf: 38]

It can also mean people united by faith. This meaning of the word “Ummah” can be found in many places in the Quran.

Allah says: “Humanity was a single ummah and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings…” [Surah al-Baqarah: 213]

Allah says: “You are the best nation (ummah) brought forth for humanity. You enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in Allah.” [Surah Al Imran: 110]

This means that the Ummah, the Muslim community is good for all people. The Muslims were not brought forth merely to benefit themselves. They must teach and guide the rest of humanity and show them the way to attain felicity.

The video “Faces of Islam – Significance of Ummah” tries to define Muslim community, the Ummah and find differences with other communities. It characterized the Ummah as a group of people with good characters and performing good deed. Unfortunately, nowadays not every Muslim practice Islam in their life and that is why hardship comes to them.

But, the Ummah, the Muslim community will never be devoid of righteous people. Most Muslims adhere to the fundamentals of Islam. Even those who fall into some heresies do so primarily because of ignorance. Many of these people have no one to teach and to make them understand the real teaching in Islam, which was revealed to Muhammad saw by God, Allah swt. As long as they still maintain that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad saw is the Messenger of Allah, then they should still be considered Muslims. If they do or say something that can bring them close to unbelief, the statement can be declared as action of unbelief without calling the person involved an unbeliever. They may be resulting from ignorant or they may be acting under a mistaken interpretation.

Though there will never again be an absolute state of ignorance and unbelief after the coming of Prophet Muhammad saw, ignorance can manifest itself through sins. When Abu Zarr taunted Bilal with the words: “You son of a black woman”, the Prophet saw said to him: “You are a man who has within you something from the times of ignorance.” [Saih al-Bukhari (30), Sahih Muslim (1661)] Here the Prophet accused Abu Zarr of possessing a trait of the times of ignorance because of his sin of being a racist. Al-Bukhari places this hadith under the heading “Chapter: Sins are from the Affairs of the Times of Ignorance, but Their Perpetrators are not Unbelievers unless they Fall into Polytheism”.

Some traits from the times of ignorance will be held by certain individuals or be prevalent in certain areas of the world, but never again will ignorance be all-pervasive. This will be the case until right before the end of time, when Islam will perish. The Prophet saw said: “Islam will be obliterated just like a stain is washed from a piece of clothing. No one will know anything about fasting, prayer, pilgrimage, and charity. The Book of Allah will be taken away one night until not a verse of it is left on Earth. There will remain some old people who will say: “We found our fathers uttering the words “there is no god but Allah” so we say them as well.”” [Sunan Ibn Majah (4049) with an authentic chain of transmission.]

The Ummah from generation to generation should represent the values set forth in the Quran, carries out its commandments and avoids what it prohibits. It retains within its active life the knowledge, guidance, and faith of the Prophets to a degree that no other nation can boast. It carries with it a light by which it would completely reform itself if it would only act upon it. This light is the Quran and Sunnah.

The Quran, in unambiguous terms, tells the Ummah to be different than those nations of the past in its beliefs, its deeds, its conduct, and its character. At the same time, they are not supposed to cultivate differences amongst themselves. They should not try to be distinctive from other Muslims who are saved from those who are engaged in heretical innovations or who flaunt their sins and iniquities. They must not intentionally differentiate themselves from other Muslims, whether it be in appearance, dress, behavior, or anything else. If a person purposely tries to be different in matters that are not part of the Sunnah, then this is part of the conspicuousness that is forbidden in Islam.

The earliest Muslims disliked being conspicuous, even in some practices that were founded but that were not absolutely clear. They preferred to conform to the general public and disliked going against them unless the dictates of Islamic Law required that from them. They show little understanding of Islamic Law in doing so. This is nothing more than an attempt to be above others or to seek leadership. A person should only distinguish himself by adhering to a Sunnah that others have neglected or in carrying out an Islamic duty that others fail to carry out or in doing some virtuous deed in hopes that others will follow suit. This is not the same as trying to be different for the sake of being different.

Above all, human themselves is Allah’s creation with needs. Human needs to belong. The full meaning of Islam cannot be realized without this need being fulfilled. Prayer is a congregational duty. So is the pilgrimage. In Ramadan, Muslims fast together. We cannot put the moral values of Islam into practice without living in a community. How can we show kindness, patience, generosity, and courage without interacting with others?

A human being, after belonging to this Ummah, has a natural need to be esteemed by others who also belong to it. He must feel useful and valuable and that he has some impact on those around him. When needs are not fulfilled, people sometimes resort to destructive and irrational behavior in order to assert themselves.

We can see how Allah's Messenger used to praise different people, tribes, ethnic groups, and countries. He pointed out the efforts of different individuals. We see this often in the Sunnah. Some scholars have written books just on this topic. It is a great honor indeed for a person when Allah's Messenger praises him.

Moreover, Allah praises the Companions in the Quran: He says: “Allah has turned in favor to the Prophet, the Emigrants, and the Helpers” [Surah al-Tawbah: 117]

The Prophet would praise those who were new to Islam. Sometimes he would do so indirectly, like when he said, before entering Mecca: “Anyone who enters the home of Abu Sufyan will be safe.” [Sahih Muslim (1780)] He mentioned the home of Abu Sufyan specifically out of respect, though he had also said: “Anyone who closes the door to his home will be safe, and anyone who enters the mosque will be safe.” [Sunan Abi Dawud (3022)] We cannot expect anyone to leave his home or the mosque and prefer to seek safety in Abu Sufyan's house? The Prophet made specific mention of Abu Sufyan to acknowledge him, since he had just accepted Islam. Likewise, he reconciled the hearts of many people by giving them gifts and acknowledging them in other ways. A person's reputation has no less value to him than material wealth. A person's need for esteem is a natural part of his makeup that Allah has placed within him. Therefore, Allah's Law comes with what protects and completes this esteem.

A person also needs to be self-actualized. This is an internal calling. Islam seeks to enhance this need, channel it, and bring it to fulfillment. We find that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “When a person dies, his deeds end, except for three: charity that continues to benefit people, knowledge that he taught which continues to provide benefit, and a pious child who prays for him.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi (1376)] and Sunan al-Nasai (3651)]

Many are inspired by these words and try to increase their efforts and their productivity, seeking to immortalize themselves with their deeds, hoping for their reward with Allah. People seek to leave behind some works of charity that will continue long after they die to benefit people. Others seek to impart useful knowledge. People seek to raise pious children who will carry on their legacy and pray for them after they die.

Yet, love and loyalty should not make one blind to the mistakes of others. Someone enamored with love might speak about personal criticism and correction, but his deep-rooted loyalty unfortunately will not let him take this beyond a certain point. This is an obvious fact. So it appears that justice and impartiality in such circumstances is almost impossible and Allah knows best except that when we have already decided that impossibility exists only in the minds of the weak. Yet Allah has described the human being as oppressive and ignorant. So Muslims ask Allah to help them in their dealings with each other and give them patience in their weakness and make them aware of their faults before it is too late.

alhamdulillah hari ni ade 2 iftar di kampus, one by international dialogue and the other by Fatima and Maryam Ashraf! I was working at the Memorial Library and so I went to Red Gym where the first one was held... the served turkey and other egyptian food! kenyang alhamdulillah.. then met mimi, she was working there and she asked me if I want to got to the other one and I said yes! so, she waited for me to finish my food and we walked for like 7 minutes to MSC Satellite, near the dorms. When we arrived the discussion already started!

few non-Muslims, lots of Muslims but the few asked many questions.. one girl (i think she's a Spanish) asking questions about the Prophet. She misunderstood some facts as she tries to find similarities between her religion and ours... Jesus as God, the new testament written by Jesus companion and etc... But we made it clear to her soon after that...

I met few people from my Islam, Religion and Culture class whom I never know what their names are.. bad me... but this one brother is a Muslim! tak terkejut, cume tak sangka saje... patut la kurus... puasa yek!

I'm sure the other Malaysians jeles sebab tak dapat makan turkey sedapp hari ni.. hehehe... maaf la, they send out the emails today baru.. takpe, there'll be next time! hehehe...

okeh.. tomorrow paper due and tomorrow will get back exam Math 340... moga dipermudahkan... ameen
assalamualeikum wbt

last touch on my paper... td mengemas dapur and etc, seronok... rase senang bile buat keje2 mcm tuh!
I have made my decision: undur diri dari MISA
why: reasons that I couldn't explain, but all comes from me, inside me... nothing but me
what's next: be khairulbariah insyaAllah... pursue my destiny towards Allah swt... "ya Allah, tetapkanlah imanku, teguhkan pendirianku, ampunilah dosa2ku, kedua ibu bapaku, selamatkanlah mereka didunia dan akhirat..." ameen

regarding bazaar: Bro. Obay will send the merchandizes directly to the hotel where Muktamar will be held. Another Bro. from soundvision will contact me after eid as he is so busy rite now... jazakallah to both of you

The Arabic word for a human being is “insân”. It is derived from the root word “naws” meaning to move in the manner that the tongue and other things move. A human being is by nature a creature of movement and activity. For this reason, the most honest names for a person to have are Hârith (meaning ploughman) and Hammâm (meaning enthusiastic). Abû Wahb al-Jashmî relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The most beloved names to Allah are `Abd Allah (Slave of Allah) and `Abd al-Rahmân (Slave of the Beneficent), and the most honest names are Hârith and Hammâm.” [This hadîth can be found in Sunan Abî Dâwûd, Sunan al-Nasâ’i, al-Bukhârî in al-Adab, Ahmad, and other sources. The accepted opinion regarding this hadîth is that it is mursal, meaning that the person who related it from the Prophet (peace be upon him) was not one of his Companions.]

significance of the Ummah and believing as ourselves... konsep islam, iman dan ihsan. Not just to agree in heart but also in action. Therefore to be able to acknowledge one's act, one must not live by themself but with more than a person, or in other words, to live in a community. But, still the iman, or the intention towards Allah must come from oneself. Sebab tu du'a and deeds are been done with one single intention... between u and Allah, and as whole... with exception bile satu2 perkara berlaku atas satu community like bala, dua nak mintak lulus periksa and etc, Everybody have the same intention, the same purpose, so tak salah lah kalau nak dibuat secara berjemaah...

teringat akhi Adnan ckp, "students US tak jarang dipanggil jd imam di Malaysia sebab tak baca doa kuat2..." salah siapa? tak apa la, baca kuat2 pun, yang lain ameenkan doa tuh.. insyaAllah sampai ...

alhamdulillah... exam over!
went to my african class: we didn't watch video today, instead we listen to a peotry type of music by Abida Perveen.

Ham ko yaan dar dar phiraayaa yaar ne
Laa-makaan men ghar banaayaa yaar ne

Aap apne dekhne ke vaastee
Ham ko aa'ina banaayaa yaar ne

Apne ik adnaa tamaashe ke liyee
Ham ko soolii par charhaayaa yaar ne

Aap chhup ke ham ko kar ke ru baru
Khub hii rusvaa karaayaa yaar ne

Aap to but ban ke kii jalva-garii
Aur hamen kaafir banaayaa yaar ne

Sirr-e shaan-e be-niyaazii khul ga'ii
Jis taraf rukh ko phiraayaa yaar ne

fuhh... penat taipp

universal love, yaar ne - the beloved
makaan means place, laa-makaan - nonplace
kaafir - spurn the gifts that is given (by God), related to syirik... it doesn't mean just 'non-believer'

Persian poetry:

"When I am turning away from you, I am turning torwards you...."

God is everywhere, so how can you turn away from Him?
everybody is just a mirror of someone elses. Taqwa put as in ranks (ranks by side of God)
and more....

Amir forgot to bring my notes ... Laurie had to carry her heavy drum, met Mimi and Sahar on my way to astronomy class. They're going to do presentation on topics in Islam in class! Tommorrow is my session, (beware UW people, I'm gonna tell you only fact but the fact!) LOL...
"Ya Allah, bantulah aku, berilah daku petunjuk, mudahkanlah urusanku menyampaikan dakwahMu ya Allah... tetapkan imanku, teguhkan pendirianku, ampuni dosa-dosaku, kedua ibu bapaku, selamatkanlah mereka didunia dan diakhirat..." ameen

next week class, we'll be discussing on muslims' life and rituals and etc. (not to forget, marriage!) according to outline
read utusan just now, MRSM students anmd SMT students got into fights!? haiyaaaa... what la malay people! why fight-fight, datang roket Bush karang, meletup semua!

teringat dulu kat PDRM,
"kib, kalau ko cakap kat cekgu... aku korek biji mata ko!" What did I do? Did I report to cekgu? Did I? Inilah masalahnya bile ade 'couple' dalam satu kelas (obviously not me), pastu couple pulak ngan gengster kelas lak tuh kan, so bile si makwe tuh yang report pasal this guy yang tak segengster pakwe si makwe tuh.. maka dicariklah orang lain untuk dipersalahkan... orang yang paling tepat untuk dijadikan mangsa ialah PENOLONG KETUA DARJAH ( 5 tahun jd penolong ketua darjah... pewwiittt) ...

assalamualeikum wbt

apakah tanda-tanda gemuruh, takut, 'gelabah'? --> menulis blog dengan banyaknya in a day!
anyway, I browsed through files in my computer and found this beautiful art work by bro. Hakeem. This was long time ago, maybe 2 - 3 months before... read it please....

--> it happens to me too alhamdulillah

"And We shall remove from their breasts any (mutual) hatred or sense of injury (which they had, if at all in the life of this world); rivers flowing under them, and they will say: “All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has guided us! Indeed, the Messengers of our Lord did come with truth.” And it will be cried to them: “This is the paradise which you have inherited for what you used to do.”
(surah Al-A’raf, 7: 43)

dim of Ker L = 0 barulah function one-to-one
L(u + v) = L(u) + L(v)
L(cu) = cL(u) ---> when both satisfied, then it is a linear transformation

alamak², Determinants tak baca lg...

"Indeed Allah is gentle and loves gentleness, and gives due to gentleness that which He does not give due to harshness." [Ibn Maajah, ibn Hibbaan; Hasan]

“then ask those who possess the Message (Ahl adh-Dhikr) if you do not know.” (21:7 and 16:43)

after going through half semester then I realized that my Math 340 and Math 240 are related... Linear Algebra and Descrete Math ... in fact, my 240 prof once teached 340.. alhamdulillah... begin to see now! good for final!
assalamualeikum wbt

dhikr (in arabic) OR zikr - rememberance of God
"The Reality" explained by Huston Smith (prof at MIT)
"You're not talkign about God anymore, but 'The Reality' . Well, actually it is a problem of 'Being'"

Like in any system however, when the believer starts to challenge the authority, then it become a thread! For example, the Taliban! (not responsible for what I wrote)

Rabiah from Basarah dreamed of the Prophet one night
"Don't you love me?"
" Yes I do my Prophet, but my love is so occupied with God till I have no time for anybody else"

Hasan al-Basarah once saw Rabiah walked with fire in one hand and a bucket of water on the other hand, he asked
"Where are you going?" Rabiah answered,
"I am going to burn heaven and diminished hell so that human will concentrate more on God"

ashabul suffa - person who sit in Prophet's mosque and do nothing
sufism is an English term

evidences of the existence of Sufism during the livelihood of the Prophet.

Prof. tried to present that there is nothing wrong with Sufism, just people's ignorance especially among the Muslim itself to learn deeper about Sufism...

Impatience of an individu to be with God... Sufism!

There was one girl in class whom I used to smile at whenever I saw her in class. Today, she sat next to me!!!!! and she asked my name (for the second time) and asked me to write it for her. I did and she copied in her note book... nice of her... she's a freshmen from here (Madison) ...
Lorie wore the veil which I gave her! so pretty.... She love it too... alhamdulillah...
Amir Stepak borrowed my astron 100 notes today
"I'll give it back to you tomorrow..."
"sure"

Tomorrow we will watched video (title unknown yet!) Most important, tomorrow is my MATH 340 exam!!!! moga dipermudahkan...
assalamualeikum wbt

"How a Pearl Protect Itself"

recommended by bro Faiz last night ... 2 thumbs up! LOL... click here to clearly understand what I meant

can't cook for friends today! insyaAllah will postponed to other day, maybe after my paper is due... the title for my paper might be, "Believing in Ourselves" ... someone in class told that he is going to write on mourning in Islam... nice and intresting! I bet the idea came after watching one of the video from the collection of 6 videos "Living in Islam" .... 'Allahualam...

class, come back home, cook, study!
"Ya Allah permudahkanlah urusanku, ampunilah dosa-dosaku, kedua ibu bapaku, selamatkanlah mereka didunia dan akhirat"
ameen....

I forgot to bring the eid cards to show to Laurie and friends in class. Laurie is so tired today, and she cannot hold till the break fast time. Poor her... She carried with her all the art tools and also some other stuff. Last week she had to carry her drum (she helps her husband teaches African dancing class) which is 10 lb - 15 lb.

We're planning on hosting a pot luck gathering for our Islam; Religion and Culture class this thanksgiving break! but we hadn't had any plan yet! maybe at my house since all my housemates are going to Michigan. I cancelled my trip to Purdue University too! Maafkan ana sahabat-sahabat sekalian... insyaAllah panjang umur kita jumpe di Muktamar Senawi 2002

"Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous”
(Surah Al-Furqaan, Ayat: 65)

ameen
assalamualeikum wbt

before getting into class today, I sat on a bench with an American woman who just moved from Ohio to Madison and are doing her Phd in North Africa studies and minor in Children Theater. Intresting and beneficial conversation. Half way, Laurie came and she also joined us! What did we talk about?

It started with the veil issue where the woman argued that some countries do not allowed women to wear veil and some others force them to wear one. "Women are capable of making their own decision and have RIGHTS to do what they want" I smiled....

Then she asked if I'm going back for the holiday... and I said no. Why? I explained to her, how worried we are about our visa status until we don't feel it is safe to leave America. She agreed... Than she talked about how ignorance people are nowadays. Not to exclude the Muslim; both are just the same. Laurie added that the uneducated people hould be given chance to learn other cultures and religions and made them be more open minded. I agreed too!

There should be some effort to make both participants understand each other... Yes, that's what the Muslims are trying to do! get as much people as theyc an to get to know Islam and it's beauty. May Allah reward those who make effort to it... ameennn...

That woman worried about her son driving in Madison, sicne the winter is coming... yeah.. you should be worried...

Well... in class, Prof. Mamoon talked about Sufism stilll!!!!! Sometime I couldn't understand and I started to play around (Laurie joined me!) LOL... the guy next to me today are so quiet and take notes all the time. Respect u brother! One time, I was flipping my note book, it slipped onto that guy's lap... and he was shocked... sorry!!!!! didn't mean to.... he smiled... Sufism....

Remember Reem said that Prof. Mamoon is typically Islam by cultural not by practice. She confirmed me with the fact that he is married to a Japanese women and she never converted yet! same goes for his children. 'Allahualam....

exam on Thursday, paper due on Monday, what else? oh oh... final next month! LOL....
please come, please come! ROCK my world!

add a little bit:

The last time we had halaqah at Islamic Center, we discussed about Ramadhan, and Saema did ask about the 3 part of Ramadhan. Today, alhamdulillah from misg-net I have the answer!

(1) Rahmah / mercy
(2) Forgiveness
(3) Freedom from fire hell

told Saema about it, and she said thanks... and by means I should say thanks on her behalf to akhi Abli and Akh. Akmar... hmm... LOL jazakallah....

missed makkk so much! I bet she is missing me too... (perasan)
never have secret with her... she knows everything happened to me... (every mom knows kan?) me too IN FUTURE! hehehe...
makkkk, Yo rindu sangatttt kat makk...

called Makcik Zi (aseks's mom) baik sangat... rase macam mak sendiri... sekarang ade 2 mak, tapi tak sama dengan makkkk...
"tak call along kib? die memang, nak call makcik pun susah kadang2, sebuk katenye... makcik la yg selalu telepon... tu pun susah die nak angkat kib... kalau jadi pun makcik suke kib ...."

Allah said:

"Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger, and striving hard and Fighting in His Cause; then wait until Allah brings about His Decision (torment). And Allah guides not the rebellious folk." At-Tawbah:24

taking a break from Math 340 (intro to linear algebra) INTRO? kalau go into deeper, what will life be? 'Allahualam... I did mention about Halloween costumes and etc before (refer to my 12th Nov. blogging). One brother said,"the one where u beristighfar bout putting halloween pics" ... I smiled!

suddenly I realized... I did comment something about judging people before... how u shouldn't judge other people and everything... pulang paku buah keras to me... Once I poured out the word, what they were thinking and etc., I was actually judging them by outside, by what I see... Am I allowed to do so? By whom? If not, why? anyway, thanks akhi...

Went to Saema's "Club House" in West area, with Reem and Mona... eat lots of rice (Egyptian cookings) and desserts nyum nyum! alhamdulillah... Reem keep asking me about marriage; all the way to Saema's place she was arguing with me about it! ooo cute Reem, "When it comes, it comes" ok? The funny part was when she kept complaining how big she is compared to any Malaysian brother (well, actually she was comparing herself to bro. Farhan) that's biased Reem! LOL.... Maha (Reem's sister) and Reem are such a different person, but both are nice, very nice! Glad Allah let me met them... alhamdulillah... (notes: Reem is smaller and prettier than me .... just wanna let brothers out there know... LOL)

Abdullah, Saema's cute and clever son makes me happy tonite! I played with him for couple of hours... I love kids, very much! oh oh, I almost forgot, Mimi and Jennah are getting married next summer! Jennah's is on the 21st of June and for Mimi, she's still not sure but she and Bilal have already signed the legal papers (legal according to state law maybe!?) not sure... Hope Allah makes Mimi's wedding easy ameen.... Congratulations both of you!!!!!!!!!

"When is yours kib?".... why always asked me? "next week, next week!" hehehehe... and everybody laughs! ~THE END~

Al - Bayyinah [ayat 1 - ayat 8]

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Mengasihani.

[1] Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them clear Evidence,

[2] A Messenger from Allah, rehearsing scriptures kept pure and holy:

[3] Wherein are laws (or decrees) right and straight.

[4] Nor did the People of the Book make schisms, until after there came to them Clear Evidence.

[5] And they have been commanded no more than this: to worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being True (in faith); to establish regular Prayer; and to practise regular Charity; and that is the Religion right and Straight.

[6]Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures.
Mereka itulah sejahat-jahat makhluk.

[7] Those who have faith and do righteous deeds; They are the best of creatures.

[8] Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow; they will dwell therein forever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher.

KHAIRULBARIAH

satu paper untuk disiapkan before Nov. 26th, satu exam on Nov. 21st and finals!
Masa itu emas, but then emas boleh dijual beli... so change to masa itu nyawa... tp nyawa milik Allah implies masa milik Allah swt, tak hargai masa = tak hargai nyawa = tak mensyukuri nikmat Allah swt... need to be careful when using words to make up sentences... really? 'Allahualam...

:: About Sufism ::

Mysticism is a worldwide phenomenon of the human universal yearning for Truth. “Mysticism” is said to be the “immediate and direct intuitive knowledge of God or of the ultimate reality attained through personal religious experience.”1 In the Encarta Dictionary “mysticism” is defined as the “consciousness of the transcendent reality or of God through deep meditation or contemplation.” In Oxford Dictionary mysticism is defined as something “having a hidden or symbolic meaning... inspiring a sense of mystery and awe.” A “mystic” on the other hand, is defined as “a person who seeks to obtain union with God by spiritual contemplation.”

All the more, the definition of the term should be postulated in a manner that serves as a common ground shared by all religions, not carrying within it any bias to a certain religion. The Oxford definition of the term “mystic” for example, carries within it an apparent Christian bias. Defining the term “mysticas someone seeking “union with God through spiritual contemplation” is an entirely Christian conception of the term. In Islam for example, the idea of the “union with God” (al-tawahud) is unacceptable. Also, the idea of reaching to God through “spiritual contemplation” is also Christian in essence. Again, in Islam religious experience is meaningless if the spiritual efforts were not accompanied with physical and social efforts. Also Mysticism has become synonymous with spirituality, which ought not to be so.

the circling in Sufism, what does it means:

God at center
God's Law is the circumference
Sufism is the radius that bring an individual to the center

soalan2 timbul selepas tayangan video:

(1) Is Sufism vegetarian?

No... but the questions "Do they remember to eat?" thus more important!

(2) Is their children also a sufi

No idea... logically yes...

and etc.
Oh American... "Good" Questions!

Ia melangkah terseret-seret mendekati kediaman rumah Nabi Musaa.s. Diketuknya pintu pelan-pelan sambil mengucapkan uluk salam.Maka terdengarlah ucapan dari dalam "Silakan masuk". Perempuan cantik itu lalu berjalan masuk sambil kepalanya terus merunduk. Air matanya berderai tatkala ia berkata, "Wahai Nabi Allah. Tolonglah saya.Doakan saya agar Tuhan berkenan mengampuni dosa keji saya." "Apakah dosamu wahai wanita ayu?" tanya Nabi Musa a.s. terkejut."Saya takut mengatakannya."jawab wanita cantik. "Katakanlah jangan ragu-ragu!" desak Nabi Musa.

Maka perempuan itupun terpatah bercerita, "Saya... telah berzina". Kepala Nabi Musa terangkat, hatinya tersentak. Perempuan itu meneruskan, "Dari perzinaan itu saya pun...lantas hamil. Setelah anak itu lahir, langsung saya... cekik lehernya sampai... mati," ucap wanita itu seraya menangis sejadi-jadinya. Nabi Musa berapi-api matanya.

Ratap tangisnya amat memilukan.Ia tak tahu harus kemana lagi hendak mengadu. Bahkan ia tak tahu mahu dibawa kemana lagi kaki-kakinya. Bila seorang Nabi saja sudah menolaknya, bagaimana pula manusia lain bakal menerimanya? Terbayang olehnya betapa besar dosanya, betapa jahat perbuatannya.

that guy yg sama kelas with me for 2 semester (maybe 3... not sure) talked to me in class today; well, not actually in class, at the roof after looking at the 'sun spot' (btw, he's in my astronomy and Islam class)... His name is Amir and he's from Israel... hmm... tak sangka... ana terang pada die yg last sem pun ana same kelas dgn die, anthropology class... and I noticed him with his friend, and he clarified... "oohh my girlfriend".... hehehe... ana fikir, die same saje macam ana, tidak ambil tahu sangat hal negara, apa yang berlaku.... and also about other religion.. but why he took Islam, Religion and Culture class? maybe for requirement? maybe...I am not sure... mungkin awekss nyer juge seorang Israel... who cares? He's a nice guy after all... :)

in class today,
discuss the word 'jihad'... ohh before I forgot, Prof. Mamoon is not in a very good / positive mood today! He was talking about pre-destination and free will yesterday.... arguement must based on solid evidence... creative ambiguoty..
within the Muslims community itself,
"I'm doing it this way, and others are doing it differently and thus questions "why are they doing it as such?" occurs"

sitting here on this chair, in this library makes me think... (hahahahha tipu : i had all below in mind since my Islam, Religion and Culture class this morning)

mengikut outline, minggu ni we'll talk about sufism... but then, he never mention the word throughout the class this morning... but the way he's expalining the syllabus tells us it is about sufism (i hope it is) ...

famous figure in sufi teaching, Hassan of Basrah

sinner divides into 3 groups:

(1) Qadarites

those who believes in free will / destination - individual responsbilities
for example, if the caliph teaching is in contrast with the Islam teaching, we have to oppose

(2) Jabarites

complusion (everything has been pre-determined)
for example, if government did something wrong, we have to do nothing as it'd been pre-determined

(3) Mu'tazilies

the one who use kalam or discourse to argue sth
these are the people who is intermediate in between belief and disbelief...

then my prof. keep giving arguements about God existence, God's knowledge, the 99 attributes and etc...
ok.. God is one, so what does oneness means? and etc (again!!?)

itu lah... this week video is the mysticism way of sufism...
insyaAllah beneficial!

the person who sleep in class sit beside me today! LOL
He can bear the lecture for 15-20 minutes only and fall asleep... poor him! I gave him candies before, but I'm fasting today, so no candies...

Bro. Hakim argues about sending emails to sisters ONLY to uwmisa (all Malaysians muslim) mailing list ... what's the deal!? can someone explains to him the objective(s) of having the mailing list? sorry bro...
I did send the halloween story to uwmisa mailing list... below is a respond from freshmen:

....tq kib...teeheeheee...

life is empty without faith
faith is empty without truth
truth is empty without obedience
obedience is empty without freewill
freewill is empty without guidance
so guide me ~~

---> insyaAllah... let's help together!

I felt bad when I browse through pictures of my friend's website showing muslims in such costumes... astaghfirullah... what were they thinking... i feel a relief now, as I already pour out my point in my email to the mailing list... 'Allahualam...

As – Sajdah : 13

The terror attacks in Indonesia and the Philippines seem to have opened up a new front in the war on terror. Strategists and commentators have focused their attention on Southeast Asia, asking whether radical Islam has found a new home in this volatile region. But, because of its size and severity, the Bali bomb blast has led people to the wrong conclusion. Islam in Southeast Asia is not the problem. In fact it may be the solution.

just ask any typical SouthEast Asian people about world, about terrorism... do they know anything? do they know Bush? MAYBE there are al-qaeda or whatever names they give are in SEA, but does that have to do with them? do they want this people to be in their country? Is it worth killing thousands of people for few other people?

Hey the authority people! We are tired telling, campaigning and etc to you about this! Please stop war! Please stop killing people! Aren't u part of human being too? Don't you have sympathy for us?

When I first came here, I was shocked with the Muslims students reaction and attitude towards this issue. Big deal! Why was I thinking as such? YES, because it do not have anything to do with me and my country! astaghfirullah... now that they start attacking the SEA then I realized how important it is to be part of this, to stop war!!!!

I keep thinking about my family right now... what will happened if "the authority people" become mad and start wars with SEA... nauzubillah....

i asked Reem about the word abli, and she said she knew abla... like when my cousin or my relatives call me as I am older... but I don't like them calling me such.. LOL... still young huh reem!? MasyaAllah you're a good person Reem, may u find good person too insyaAllah.... and hey! stop teasing me about it too!

tomorrow we're going to watch a video titled, "Guest of God"
missed mak, abah, adek² especially mamat....

Ramadhan Mubarak

few people asked me about Ramadhan in class. Today Prof. Mamoon talked about Syi'ah (ideology and practices)
main different between Syi'ah and Sunni is the temporary marriage
married for several days and then the contract is off, children goes to the father and the mother is kick off the family. How rude is that?

one brother asked a question : "I read an article saying that they found Jesus's body.... bla bla bla" and prof asked "so, does it matter? how he look? and etc.?" and that brother continued," well... they doubt if Jesus ever existed, that's why I asked you if u know ..." and he said,"no no .... any other questions?" .... some christian people in the class weren't comfortable with his question, in fact one of them (who has 2 other classes with me) say sth to him after class. What was he thinking? smoking before and after class, socialize and etc... and asking such question???? [eh eh ana meng'judge' orang plak] astaghfirullah....

aha... "how do u know let say Suzie know?" hmm... I don't quite understand this part... sth about distinguishing between God and Human!
"How can Muslims accept trinity... there's god, but Jesus is God too!" hmm... complicated!

adek ana, Zulaikha (kewek) dapat result UPSR semalam, dan dr semalam jugak tak dapat-dapat nak call rumah... kenapa yer? rindunye pada mamat dan kewek! rindu kat mak jugak... nanti mak mesti lagi penat, kene berniaga petang2 pulak, utk berbukak puasa... tp ruginyer tak dapat rase solok lada, ketupat sotong, bubur lambuk, asam gupal, onde-onde, bubur pulut hitam makkk... :( insyaAllah nanti yo try buat mak.... [khairul --> kero --> keyo --> yo] ganu kite la ni!

Ramadhan Mubarak

FREE IFTAR @ MY PLACE EVERY WEDNESDAY :: WEST BADGER RD. APT. 7 ::

PLEASE COME!

:: Ramadhan ::

In the month of Ramadaan it is very important that we spent a few moments to understand some of the wisdoms and lessons that we can learn from this month of fasting.

Unfortunately, many Muslims come in to this month and they are as a companion of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Let it not be that the day that you fast and the day that you break fast be equal." Meaning, one's behaviour, attitude and outlook are the same whether one fasts or not, i.e. fasting has no effect upon that person. This is why we need to reflect on some of these lessons.

LESSON 1: Gaining Taqwaa

Allaah legislated fasting for gaining taqwaa, "O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it has been prescribed upon those before you, so that you may attain taqwaa." (meaning of SoraatulBaqarah (2):183) Taqwaa in this case means to make a shield between oneself and Allaah’s anger and Hellfire. So we should ask ourselves, when we break our fasts, ‘Has this fasting day made us fear Allaah more? Has it resulted that we want to protect ourselves from the hellfire or not?

LESSON 2: Drawing closer to Allaah

This is achieved by reciting and reflecting on Al-Qur’aan during night and day, attending the taraaweeh prayers, remembering Allaah, sitting in circles of knowledge and, for those who can, making `umrah. Also for those who can, making I`tikaaf (seclusion) in the last ten nights of Ramadaan, so as to leave all worldly pursuits and seclude oneself in a masjid just thinking of Allaah, so as to bring oneself closer to Allaah (SWT). When one sins, one feels distant from Allaah. That is why one might find it heard to read the Qur’aan and come to the masjid. However, the obedient worshipper feels closer to Allaah and wants to worship Allaah more, because he is not shy from his sins.

LESSON 3: Acquiring patience and strong will

Allaah has mentioned patience more than seventy times in the Qur’aan and has commanded patience in more than sixteen ways in His Book. So when one fasts, and gives up one’s food and drink, and one’s marital sexual relations for those hours, one learns restraint and patience. This Ummah needs man and women that are strong willed, who can stand upon the Sunnah and the Book of Allah and not waver in front of the enemies of Allaah. We do not need emotional people, who just raise slogans and shout, but when the time comes to stand upon something firm, they cannot do so, they waver.

LESSON 4: Striving for Ihsaan (righteousness and sincerity) and staying away from riyaa’ (showing off)

Ihsaan means to worship Allaah as if one seeks Him, and even though one does not see Him, He sees all. Hasan al-Basree said, "By Allaah, in the last twenty years, I have not said a word or taken something with my hand or refrained to take something with my hand or stepped forth or stepped back, except that I have thought before I have done any action, ‘Does Allaah love this action? Is Allaah pleased with this action?' So when one is fasting, one should gain this quality of watching oneself and also staying away from riyaa’ (showing off). That is why Allah said in a hadeeth qudsee, "Fasting is for Me and I reward it." (al-Bukhaaree) Allaah singles out fasting from all other types of worship saying, "Fasting is for Me", because no one knows whether you are fasting or not, except Allaah. For example, when one is praying or giving charity or making tawaaaf, one can be seen by the people, so one might do the action seeking the praise of the people. Sufyaan ath-Thawree used to spend the nights and the days crying and the people used to ask him, "Why do you cry, is it due to the fear of Allaah? He said, ‘No.’ They said, "Is it due to the fear of the Hellfire?" He said, ‘No. It is not the fear of Hellfire that makes me cry, what makes me cry is that I have been worshipping Allaah all these years and doing scholarly teaching, and I am not certain that my intentions are purely for Allaah.’"

LESSON 5: Refinement of manners, especially those related totruthfulness and discharging trusts.

The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "Whoever does not abandon falsehood in word and action, then Allaah (SWT) has no need that he should heave his food and drink." (al-Bukhaaree) What we learn from this, is that we must pay attention to the purification of our manners. The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "was sent to perfect good manners." (Maalik) So we must check ourselves, are we following the behaviour of the Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him)? For example: Do we give salaam to those we don’t know and those we do know? Do we follow the manners of Islaam, by telling the truth and only telling the truth? Are we sincere? Are we merciful to the creation?

LESSON 6: Recognizing that one can change for the better

The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "Every son of Adam sins and the best of the sinners are those whorepent." (Ibn Maajah) Allaah provides many opportunities to repent to Him and seek His forgiveness. If one was disobedient they can become obedient.

LESSON 7: Being more charitable

Ibn `Abaas said, "The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) was the most charitable amongst the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadaan when Jibreel used to meet him on every night of Ramadaan till the end of the month…" (al-Bukhaaree) The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, without nothing being reduced from the fasting person’s reward." (at-Tirmidhee)

LESSON 8: Sensing the unity of the Muslims

The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "…Those of you who will live after me will see many differences. Then you must cling to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided khaleefahs. Hold fast to it and stick to it." (Aboo Daawood) In this month we sense that there is a possibility for unity, because we all fast together, we break fast together, we all worship Allah together, and we pray Salaatul-`Eid together. Therefore we sense that the unity of Muslims is possible. It is possible for Muslims to be a single body, but this will only be achieved when obedience is only to Allaah and His Messenger.

LESSON 9: Learning discipline

The Prophet (ma Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) made us adhere to discipline and strictness, strictness that does not lead to fanaticism or going outside the bounds that Allaah has laid down. One cannot knowingly break the fast before the sunset, as this will not be accepted by Allaah. Muslims should learn to be very strict in their lives, because they are people of an important message, which they mold their lives around.

LESSON 10: Teaching the young to worship Allaah

It was the practice of the people of Madeenah, that during the fast of `Aashooraa (which is now a recommended fast of one day) to get their children to fast with them. When the children would cry of hunger and thirst, their parents would distract their attention by giving them some sort of toy to play with. The children would break their fast with their parents. (as mentioned in al-Bukhaaree).

So the young should be brought to the masjid and they should pray with their parents, so that they are able to get into the habit of becoming worshippers of Allaah. If one does not encourage children to fast when they are young, they will find it very difficult to fast for thirty days at the age of puberty. This is why the Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "Command your children to pray at the age of seven and beat them at the age of ten (if they do not pray." (Haakim)

LESSON 11: Caring for one’s health

Fasting has many medical benefits and it teaches Muslims to take care of their health and too build strong bodies. The Prophet (may Allaah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "A strong believer is better and is more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone." (Muslim)

assalamualeikum wbt

hmm... lots of thing to say.. first thing first (mcm ayat org jer nih!?) heh...

PERTAMA
semalam / kelmarin one brother told me he read my blog (he once said he had no time to read!)
and give comment about it (i don't know if he meant specifically mine or in general, i mean refering to
all blogger) Inilah probs nyer bile blog jd public!

U MADE ME THINK MAN!

as u always said, I had nothing but love for ya'll... same goes for me insyaAllah.... but,
tolong la, lain kali jgn kasik komen ape2, baca saje boleh tak? dah banyak kali dah tuka isi dalam blog ni
sebab ape? sebab tu la.. ade org baca and 'extrally' make comments about it... tak marah,
tapi sian la asik kene tuka2! isk... thanks

KEDUA
seorang lg brother (apsal nih!? tak cukup kawan perempuan kah ana?) dengar dulu......
adik angkat my senior in mrsm pdrm, dikenalkan by accident and etc... (typical teenage story)
disangkakan / disalah anggap berada dalam satu hubungan 'couple' [bg die definisi 'couple' sikitt]
he messaged me telling that his mom is sick, very2 sick with Hepatitis sampai doktor suruh bawak
balik katenye... and I believed him...

then he said, he has to go back to KL and I said yes u should...
dengan kuasaNya, alhamdulillah ana tergerak nak call rumahnya bertanyakan khabar maknye...
and cube teka siape yg angkat telepon????? IBU nye....
astaghfirullah.... what was he thinking!!!????

and I called his cell phone, and I asked him where are you? and he said,
"ohh.. I have class rite now, I'll call u later! "
and td brother ni called, from Malaysia!!! for what?
"saya buat mcm tu sebab nak tarik perhatian awak, nak awak simpati sikit dengan saya"
huh!???????? ape tuh? tak paham?

sanggup sampai cakap macam tu? anak-anak doakan kesejahteraan dan kebahagiaan org tuanya,
die pulak.... nauzubillah... jgn lah anak-anak ana nanti ikut perangai mcm tu...

KETIGA
td ade house warming kat rumah Syazana, Syu and Lisa... ramai datang! alhamdulillah...

jangan kerana keadaan kita berubah... jangan kerana kawan-kawan kita berubah...
jangan kerana teknologi kita berubah... jangan kerana kesenangan kita berubah...
biarlah kita berubah kerana akhirat... biarlah kita berubah kerana insaf...
biarlah kita berubah kerana jalan yang benar... biarlah kita berubah kerana Allah swt!
dunia ini sementara... tak lama... persinggahan semata-mata;
